Unexpectedly, he began to pull a bottle out of the paper bag as the shot was being taken. The disparity of the environment, particularly of the restaurant next door, points to a complex and multi-cultural environment in NYC that was uniquely captured in this most unusual painting, considered a modern masterpiece by other photorealist painters.
