  • The story behind the image:

    Living in Sudan and Darfur continues to be life threatening moment by moment. Wholesale slaughters and starvation are the norm, as are kidnappings, well poisonings, rapes by government officials, military coups, and unstable refugee camps which lack food, water, healthcare or protection. Most are women and children, as the able men have been dragged off away from their families. The eyes of these three women portray hope, and perhaps they read some in your eyes as you view what we know is their hopeless plight.
